PM Modi meets Australia’s Scott Morrison ahead of the Quad Leaders Summit


PM Modi and Scott Morrison met several times on the sidelines of various international conferences


Ahead of the Quad Leaders Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison in Washington on Thursday.

Both heads of state and government met several times on the sidelines of various international conferences. Prior to this, Prime Minister Morrison had also called PM Modi to inform him of the plan to proceed with the alliance between Australia, Great Britain and the USA (AUKUS).

On September 15, the two heads of state and government also held a telephone conversation in which the two heads of state and government discussed the rapid progress made in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Australia, including through the recent dialogue.

PM Modi met five global CEOs for potential investments in India earlier this morning. The Prime Minister held talks with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano R Amon and discussed several topics, including electronics and measures to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.

The Prime Minister also met with Vivek Lall, CEO of General Atomics, and discussed the advancement of arms manufacturing and the use of new technologies. He also met with Adobe Chairman Shantanu Narayen.

These talks were part of a series of meetings Prime Minister Modi had with selected heads of companies with the potential to make significant investments in India.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday for his high-profile US visit.

Biden will meet PM Modi at the White House on September 24th. This will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders after Biden assumed the office of US President on Jan. 20.

Biden will host the first-ever personal Quad Leaders’ Summit, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.
