Businesses can now provide electronic product details via QR code

New Delhi [India]July 16 (ANI): In a bid to further improve the country’s ranking for ease of doing business and reduce compliance burdens for the electronics industry, the government amended laws that allow the industry to publish the product information in digital form to be declared by the QR code.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs under the Rules for Legal Metrology (Packaged Goods), (Second Amendment) of 2022 has allowed electronic products to declare certain mandatory declarations via the QR code for a period of one year if not in the packaging is self-declared, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said in a statement Saturday.
This change allows the industry to declare the elaborated information in digital form via the QR code.

This allows important declarations to be effectively declared on the label in the package, while the other descriptive information can be conveyed to the consumer via the QR code.
The department aims to enable greater use of technology in this digital age to declare the mandatory declaration via the QR code, which can be scanned to provide the declarations such as the address of the manufacturer or packer or importer, the common or generic name of the display the goods and the size and size of the goods and customer support information other than phone number and email address.
Previously, all pre-packaged goods, including electronic products, had to declare all mandatory declarations on the packaging according to the Rules of Legal Metrology (Packaged Goods), Rules 2011. (ANI)
